Delhi Capitals pacer Kyle Jamieson made a striking admission after his side’s win over Rajasthan Royals, revealing he had “never been so fearful of a 15-year-old” while facing young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

The comment comes shortly after Jamieson was penalised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), receiving one demerit point and a warning for his aggressive send-off to the 15-year-old during the same match.

Reflecting on the contest, Jamieson acknowledged that despite detailed planning, Sooryavanshi’s composure and fearless approach made him a genuine challenge.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been so fearful of a 15-year-old kid in my life. But yeah, we’d obviously done a bit of planning leading into the game, and it was just nice that it played off,” Jamieson said in a video shared by the IPL.

The match itself turned into a high-scoring thriller, with Delhi Capitals chasing down 226 to secure a seven-wicket win with five balls to spare—marking their highest-ever successful run chase in the tournament.

While the spotlight was on the batters, Jamieson underlined the importance of early breakthroughs with the new ball. He dismissed Sooryavanshi after the youngster had made an attacking start, helping Delhi regain some control during the powerplay.

He also credited his new-ball partnership with Mitchell Starc, calling the experience of sharing the attack with the Australian quick “surreal” and invaluable in high-pressure situations.

Despite claiming a key wicket, Jamieson had a tough outing with the ball, conceding 48 runs in his four overs. Starc, meanwhile, delivered a stronger spell, picking up three wickets for 40 runs.

Delhi’s chase was anchored by KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka, whose half-centuries set the platform for a comfortable finish as DC boosted their position on the points table.
